How to fix Guitar wiring?

How much would it cost to fix the wiring in an electric guitar?

• It gets nothing out of the amp, and it's not the amp or chord that are malfunctioning. I thought maybe there was an active pickup problem, but there is no battery inside.. (I don't know too much about this guitar since it's a 90's Epiphone "strat" body). It has to be the wiring I'm guessing?

  The electrical connections are a bit of a nightmare on most lower to mid budget guitars. Just simply giving your guitar a spring clean can disrupt it's wiring. The first thing to check would probably be panel to the rear of the guitar. Usually covered by a metal or plastic plate, this conceals the tremelo arm springs and attached to the the mount are some wires. If one of these has come loose or the connection is broken this might be causing the problem. The next place to check is behind the scratch plate, the pickups and the control knobs are all interlinked but the wiring loom is pretty straightforward. Loosen your guitar strings or remove them. Remove the scratch plate screws and gently raise it to check for broken soldering joints. if there are none then try administering some electrical point cleaner, you can buy it in an aerosol can a bit like WD40. This may clean up a bit of dirt preventing the guitar from working properly. The last thing is a loose connection where you plug your guitar lead in. All in all these are things you can try to do before consulting a professional. Otherwise you can get reasonable quotes from specialists. Depending on how much the guitar is worth, it may cost you anywhere from £10 - £30 for a proper diagnostic, hope this helps.
