How effective are solar curtains?

Black spots on my bathroom's plastic curtains. Is it mould or mildew? How to get rid of them? They are new.?

  • We bought these curtains in february but my husband didn't bother to clean the bathroom when I was away. Now these black spots sit fast on the curtains. How to treat them?

  • Answer:

Could be either mold or mildew, but most likely mildew. Spray the plastic curtain with bleach to immediately get rid of the spots, then keep it sprayed with a shower cleaner once a week. There are several products on the market right now that you can actually spray in your shower after you bathe that will clean a dirty shower or keep a clean shower clean. Try your local box store's cleaning aisle! Good Luck!

Spray some bleach on them and leave them for a few minutes then wash off - should work.

If it's plastic, just use some bleach. If it's fabric you have to put them in the washing machine.

Try spraying them with a light bleachwater solution. If that doesn't work - put them in the washing machine (cold of course)

Get some spray bathroom cleaner with bleach. You'll have to use this product just about every time you shower. You could go but a mildew resistance shower liner. We did and there hasn't been any mildew growth in months.

Wash them in clorox or the clorox for colors if they are a color and this will remove the spots. You can actually put them in the washer on the warm water setting, but do not put them in the dryer, instead hang them to dry preferrably outside if you can.

IT IS BOTH-- I WOULD SUGGEST TAKING THE LOST AND THROWING IT AWAY AND PURCHASING A NEW-- HOWEVER, YOU CAN CLEAN IT WTH 409 OR SOME KIND OF MILDEW CLEANER

Spray Limelite on them! (buy it from the supermarket in a green bottle)

i had the smae type of problem in my bathroom. since i have colored drapes, i couldn't use bleach. i used some diluted tilex mold and mildew. mix it like 25% water and 75% tilex then use a scrub brush to apply it to curtains. don't rub it too hard or the curtain fabric will start to frizz out or ball up, whatever that is called
