What is vine charcoal used for?

Grape vine used to produce, Cut it down, Now it doesn't.?

• We have a grapevine that is not producing any fruit. The previous owners said it produced a huge amount of black sweet grapes, but they didn't want to care for it and cut it down. Over the past year the vine as returned, but does not produce any grapes. It is growing along a chainlink fence on the other side of our daisies on a hill. I want to know if it's possible that the grape vine grew back as an ornamental/non fruit bearing vine? If it produced once, will it always be the same type of grape vine? I have not begun to fertalize and water it because I don't want it to grow anymore if it's not fruit bearing. How can I verify whether or not it is capable of producing fruit, and if it is what are the first steps I should take to help it produce? Thanks a bunch in advance for any advice!

  hello ginsuthair, My name is gardengail and I work in the home depot garden center. The grape vine should have been cut down about knee high and in a T formation, the T no farther that you can stretch your hands outside to side. It will always be the same variety of grape no matter how far you cut it down,Just cutting it incorrectly or too far will slow it down as far as fruiting. You may have set it back a year or so but not much farther. hope this helps, Gardengail
