3 trees planted for every 1 cut down?

how many of those trees reach maturity/live? I've heard that loggers plant 3 trees for each one that they cut down. Out of these trees how many of them are able to reach the same age as the one that was cut down? If location matters, Great bear rainforest.

Answer:
I don't know about forestry practices in your area but typically forestry companies plant trees at around four or five times the concentration that they eventually need to reach maturity. Then every few years after planting they come in to thin out the weaker trees so as to give more space for the better ones. The thinnings might be used for fence posts or paper pulp or similar.
