Longest avenue of lime trees in the world?

Dwarf lime and lemon trees?

  • My mom has a beautiful view of the entire city from her backyard. She would like to plan some dwarf lime and lemon trees and any other type of dwarf trees that are out there to avoid having them get too tall and blocking her view. Because she lives on top of a hill, the backyard is flat for about 10 feet then slopes down into a hill before it reaches the fence, and this hill is where she'd like to plant them. About how big do dwarf lime and lemon trees get over what period of time? Are there any other dwarf trees that grow to a maximum relatively small size? She really wants to keep the view unobstructed. Thanks!!

Good evening 619, I hope you are having a good New Year. I am going to Laughlin, Nevada for a week on Wednesday. I grow nine (9) rare fruit trees but one of my favorites is a dwarf SATSUMA MANDARIN ORANGE. My dwarf tree is twenty (20) years old. You will love this tree. It is very easy to grow. It easily fits your requirements. You will get tons of sweet oranges and it does not grow over six (6) feet. The oranges are small, sweet, and almost seedless. Go to the grocery store and check out the prices (very high) of mandarin oranges in the can. They are beautiful trees with polished shiny leaves. I can sometimes eat ten (10) oranges a day, not all at the same time (smile). The first website is how to grow. I always research every tree before I plant. Therefore the second website is a little history with pictures. All the websites fully explain what you need to do. http://www.ehow.com/how_5620207_grow-satsuma-orange-trees.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandarin_orange Remember do not OVERWATER a Satsuma Mandarin Orange Tree, and give it as much sunlight as possible. My IMPROVED DWARF MYERS LEMON tree is also twenty (20) years old. It is less than five (5) feet tall. Lemon trees are slow growers. You will get a few lemons each year. You and your mom will get tons of lemons after three (3) years, including giving lemons to your relatives and friends. I also have a dwarf Gold Dust Peach Tree. It is also twenty (20) years old. It is six (6) feet tall. http://www.willisorchards.com/product/Bonanza+Dwarf+Peach+Tree?category=252 I saved my favorite tree for last. 619, plant a STRAWBERRY GUAVA TREE. My Guava tree is thirty (30) years old. They are slow growers. You can keep them pruned to six (6) feet. They do not grow too big as it is. They grow more like a bush. I eat ten (10) a day. Guavas are called the “superfruit”. Guavas contain four (4) times more vitamin C and more nutrients (potassium and magnesium) than an orange. That is why I planted my guava tree. Again, I very highly recommend. http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/plant/Strawberry-Cherry-Guava.htm http://www.thefind.com/garden/info-strawberry-guava-tree http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guava Most dwarf trees do not get over six (6) feet tall, especially citrus trees. I do not know which variety of Lime Tree would be the best. Buy your trees from a nursery near you. The websites I gave are for info only. I do have room for one more tree. I am researching and thinking about planting a “Peanut Butter Tree” this spring. http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/fruit%20pages/peanut.htm I wish you and your family have a beautiful New Year. Peace, from Los Angeles

Growing fruit trees indoors is very rewarding and easy to do. You don't need to be living in a warm climate (or have a green thumb) to grow your own lemons, limes or oranges in your home. Dwarf fruit trees can be grown in containers indoors during the winter months then brought outside when the weather warms up. These trees are a treat for the senses - not only are they visually attractive with their lush foliage and blossoms, some are quite fragrant as well.

you can get several types (and heights) depends how "dwarf" she wants them i have 2 of these http://plants4presents.co.uk/GiftOptions.aspx?gif=95&sit=17 they grow to a height of 50-60cms and produce fruits well before they reach that height
