Spiders - Any natural deterrent against them?

Conkers. Gather some up and pop them on windowsills and anywhere else you want.

I have heard that if you put hedge apples in your basement, that will keep them out of there, don't know about in the house though. A couple of other ideas, use natural repellents. Eucalyptus, mint oil and lemon scents repel spiders. Apply the oils to areas where you typically see spiders. The best thing to do is get rid of their food supply. They are after other bugs. I am having the same problem! I really don't want to use pestisides. I was told to spray pledge on their webs because it's too slippery for them to return...I did this but they are just making new webs. I got some natural peppermint oil and put it in a spray bottle with water and I sprayed it all over our house. I think it's working a little. I also used osage oranges, horse /hedge apple they don't work. I am going to try the citronella but the my next step is to close the cracks their are coming in...

Apparently they don't like citronella (as in the stuff used in mosquito candles). You can buy it in liquid form from a garden centre, if you wipe it on the walls, they wont want to walk on them. Also, you could try keeping your windows shut!

WHY deter spiders, they only do good by snaring bad bugs and then eating them. They are perfectly harmless to us!
