Why won't my pumpkin vines produce a female flower?
-
Hi everybody, I have about 7 pumpkin vines that are of the Sweet Sugar variety. I have two mature pumpkins from the same vine, but since then none of the other vines have produced a female flower that has blossomed. When the female flower is produced, it is very small and falls off before the flower can open. I'm wondering what could cause this, since I've started the growing season with two pumpkins.

Answer:
Try fertilizing with a high middle number to increase the blooms! 10-52-10 is a great one! Make sure it is a water soluble fertilizer so the nutrients get to the plant right away.
