Current water restrictions?

Question on water restrictions...............?

  • We are allowed to water our garden for two hours; morning and evening on our restricted days. My question is; are we allowed to water the garden for the whole two hours non stop if we wanted morning and evening? The second part of the question is: If we take only twenty minutes to water the garden are we allowed to top up our watertanks for the rest of the time?

  • Answer:

Do what you want, as long as you don't have nosy neighbors you will be fine. Honestly everybody else is doing what they want. The government can't control water, when they can it will be a sad and scary world to live in indeed.

Just water how much you need in the given time. It's unnecessary to store or waste water. If your city has taken such measures to ask residents to reduce water use, then maybe you should try to cooperate so that you'll have water to water your garden tommorrow too. Certainly, the government can't control water but if everyone simply wasted it on grass, then we'd be out of water. You can't take something that is so valuable to life for granted. Do what you want, just take into consideration of other people.

if possible only water in the evening. This allows the water to soak into the ground overnight, without losing it to evaporation during the heat of the day...just my 2 cents

Although it would be irresponsible - yes you can,

How much rain is there in your country, and how much water do the plants in your garden need? You should try to conserve water and water the plants only as needed.

it appears that you are allowed to run water for two hours..... where you run it TO shouldn't be a problem...whether on the veggies or on the trees........ however, are you sure that twenty minutes is enuff water for your garden?..... be sure of that first!....water your garden as much as it needs, take care of trees and shrubs and then stop......there's no reason to just spill water on the ground just because you CAN................ okay, now, you decide to top off the water tanks today.... will you need to do that again the next day you're allowed to water?..... if not, is it because you're still not using your allowance of water?..... or are the tanks for a different purpose, such as clothes washing?....if they're just for emergency use and storage, I see no reason to NOT top them off as needed..... especially if you're not using your full allotment on the garden..... here, in our drought, they're keeping us to 6 thousand gallons per household.... to me and hubby, that's an awful lot, actually.... since when 'conserving' we can hold it to about 2500..... so I don't feel bad about doing a load of bedding or being alittle longer in the shower if I feel like it..... you know the situation where you are and what feels right to you... follow your head and heart.....

Your garden probably doesnt need watering for two hours solid. A rain gauge on you lawn/in your garden will tell you how much water you put on it. I've found that water saving crystals/granuals and planting water saving plants have made gardening a bit easier with the water restrictions. And watering in the morning is better than watering in the evening as with daylight savings its still warm at 7 pm. I'm not sure about filling watertanks though. I think if everyone did it we wouldn't be saving so much water. Good question.
