What in an immature soil makes it difficult for plants to grow?

Does adding crushed eggshells to the soil help plants grow?

  • I need to know if by adding crushed eggshells to the soil of a plant will help it grow like how fertilizers help plants grow

  • Answer:

Eventually, yes. It takes a while for the shells to break down, but when they do, they add nutrients to the soil. Some people say cleaned semi-crushed egg shells also repel pests like snails and slugs. Something about the sharp edges hurting their undersides.

Crushed egg shells are great in a compost bin, if you want to add them directly to your plants I'd run them through a blender first to help decomposition.

Yes, they add calcium to the soil. First, remove that membrane in them. It will stink and attract animals. Then put them in a blender and crush them so they will decompose faster.
