How Do I Start Vertical Gardening?

How to convince my parents to let me start gardening?

  • I really want to start a garden but i have a feeling my parents wont let because they yhink ill giv up on it. I do giv up on things alot, but its usually things they force me to do. Im 13 i dont really hav a social life so i find myself doing a lot of nothing. Im very depressed and lost. I figure to get out of my rut i need a goal or hobby, and i chose gardening. But now i need them to allow me to plant junk. How can i show them im really serious about this? Ps, dont tell me to just tell them how i feel, they never take me seriously, and actions speak louder than words!

  • Answer:

Just tell them you would like to start a vegetable garden. Tell them you will plant it and water it. It will be your project and tell them the best part of having a vegetable garden is saving money. Your parents won't have to buy it because it is in your yard to pick fresh. Before you talk to them draw a diagram of your garden and label each section with a vegetable to plant there. Start with a good plan and read up on gardening and get educated on how to do it and they should believe that you are serious about this. Do the same thing if you plan on planting flowers.

I agree you can start to grow some small plants in your room. Try a planter garden outside on a sunny pouch. You can plant tomatoes and herbs in pots. They won't take up much room and you don't have to dig up the yard. If you do well with your pots they may let you dig a small area in the back yard next year. Good Luck.

Start diggin. LOL bad idea... Do a small planter garden in your room (if you have windows) to convince them that you are up to it and not going to give up (Also convince them that you won't kill the plants). Then next year talk to them using your planter garden as leverage to convince them.

You should start by yourself in a small area or like in a pot or something.. grow one plant and show them you are responsible enough to take care or many plants just like that. Add in some environmental benefits that plants give. They will see how serious you are about this and they will let you do it. I am pretty sure they will. I give up on a lot of things too. Turns out i didnt take much time to think if i liked it or not. When you are growing the first plants make sure you like doing the work. And just keep in mind growing a garden is a bigger responsibility than one plant. good luck

I have to say that gardening is a hard labor job i work in landscaping and love it because it's very demanding well if your your own boss you'll make money depends what you do and back to the topic tell them frankly that you really love landscape and that that's your passion.

you are right .gardening is a very good way to release stress and boredom and it is fascinating to see things grow . get some pots or household containers and plant seeds or small plants with your own pocket money . put them in a sunny place and care for them . if they flower and fruit ,i'm sure your parents will be convinced . actions speak louder than words u know .

Get a large planter, bucket, or tub. Put it in an out of the way, but sunny, corner of the yard. Fill it with potting soil and plant a few things in it. When they see you are taking care of it, they may let you expand you efforts next season.
