How can I kill little purple and yellow weeds and not kill the grass?

How do I kill the weeds on my lawn without killing the grass also ?

  • ( just regular grass and not whacky weed )

  • Answer:

Go to Home Depot and grab a bottle or 2 of Ortho Lawn weed killer, apply as directed (get the one that attaches to the garden hose). You will need about 2-3 bottles per 1/4 acre lot, roughly speaking, and you need two applications spaced about 2 weeks apart and your weeds are gone. Do check, if you have crabgrass then you'll want to get the pro or max bottle with the crabgrass killer, that's the only weed the regular stuff doesn't kill. Weed and Feed is garbage.

There are several products on the market that are for exactly that. Some are called weed and feed (fertilizer for the grass with weed killer) or weed out. Check your local box store's lawn and garden section or visit you local garden center.

identify the weed. Most weeds can be just pulled. Vine types weeds spread faster than you can pull. So you will need to use chemical like Ortho Max - grass safe weed killers. Some garden section has a book that you can actually look up the weed and get a list of product that would kill the weed. Natural method are: pull with hand, spot kill with boiling water, or spray with vingar/soap mixture.
