Can you recommend a frost hardy, water tolerant, fastigiate tree climate Zone 7?

Help with picking a fruit tree...?

  • I'm planning on buying a pair of fruit trees from a nursery but am a little unsure of whether to go with a peach tree, apricot tree, or plum tree. From what I've read, the plums seem to be easier to grow than the apricots and peaches but on the other hand I've also seen it mentioned that peaches and apricots grow faster than the plums. Is this true? I live in New England in zone 6, is there one praticular fruit tree that would be especially well suited for my climate? If anyone could give me any recremendations on which type of fruit tree to get I would greatly appreciate it.

    Plum Trees are much easier to grow and will probably outperform the other two. The best nursery to talk with is One Green World when it comes to fruit.

Get a plum tree because of the way they flower they would flourish in your climate and they would be very Delicious .

I think that any two would be a great choice. All three fruits are delicious, would it be possible to have 3 trees instead of two? if not, i would probably pick plum and either apricots or peaches. Peaches are great trees, but occasionally are hard to keep alive. but if you can, it is well worth the effort.

The very best thing for you to do is check with your local extension office. They have so much information (and recipes!) for us and its all free! They can tell you the best type and variety to plant for your area. Good Luck
