Starting a goat lawn mowing business???

Goats take a lot of care, and dont like all types of grass.... they will just eat what they like and then leave the rest to grow tall.

They will eat more than the grass, like the shrubs, flowers and bark off the trees. Plus they eat too much of the grass, in a sense pulling the plants from the ground. Goats prefer weeds to grass.....so they'd be great here! Finally, they are not precise, they eat here and there, but don't evenly cut the area. Now, if you had a herd of goats, that's something else. Power companies use goats to keep the area under power lines and along the easement free of plants. Our community uses goats to eat the excess tree seedlings and brush along the river to reduce tree density. You have to stay with the goats though because the coyotes, wolves, bears, etc love goat meat. So you need several livestock guardian dogs such as Great Pyrenees or Akbash to keep the predators away from the goats. Nice idea but big commitment. One goat won't cut it.

Forget it,i tried that and the goat got loose and chased the lady down the street, the cop cought him,an d the goat butt him on his rear. After all the damnage the goat did,i had to sell him to help pay for everthing,then the fine for the ticket the cop gave me for not having him tied up.

ive seen a lady doing that in texas and she is making a killing very good idea but go for more than one goat one goat would take weeks but do it for pastures only

LOL! When I was a kid , we had two goats. We lived here in the suburbs of LA. My parents moved my ping pong table under the big ash tree in the back yard. That tree was perfectly symetrical above everyone's head at the backyard bbq's. If you use the goats to graze down all the over-growth, yeah....they eat everything in reach, but they eat everything and poop while doing it all. A goat lawning mow bussiness.........a good idea for clearing, not for manicuring! LOL!

They would probably think you were crazy. A goat will eat about anything. Lower limbs of trees, shrubs, flowers, grass. It would CLEAN the place. Also, who`s gonna clean up the droppings? And are you gonna mow only lawns with high fences? Too much here to mess with! (Though it might work if you know people who want pasture land cleaned up).

This is actually pretty funny cuz a couple months ago, my boss was talking about how to make the perfect grazing field and he said the best way is to put goats or sheep or cows on an acre of grassland and spray what they don't eat with DDT so that you have a perfect acre of good grass. Are you from Texas, by any chance?????? He also thought tri-chloro-ethane made the best cutting oil for drilling holes in stainless steel....lmao.

Stranger things have been tried & worked. You would, however, have to stay with him. Someone has to guide him to eat like a mower mows or no one will hire you. It would be a unique business arrangement because the people could put out tin cans for him to eat too. And he can fertilize while he mows.............
