How do I care for a small Peruvian Torch cactus?

How to properly take care of my cactus?

  • So I just recently got an “Angel Wings Cactus” from Lowe's and I was wondering how to properly take care of it? I tried to look it up but I kept getting Angel Wing Begonia which I assume is not the same thing as an Angel Wing Cactus. So does anybody know how to take care of this type of cactus? How much sunlight should it get? Should I keep it in warm places? How often do I water it? How big of a pot should I put it in/how big will it get? Thank you! (:

  • Answer:

Angel Wing Cactus, and Bunny Ear Cactus are some of the lesser common names for a Pear Cactus. There are several other common names, but it is still a Cactaceae Opuntia Microdasys. Native to the Southwestern deserts of the USA. It prefers a slightly acid, sandy soil. All the sunlight you can give it. Water sparingly, as in nature, it often goes without rain for months at a time. Too much water will make it rot off at ground level. I reccomend once a month for watering. When the Cactus starts to put out new growth or flower buds, keep the soil moist, but not wet until the growth or flowering stage is past and then return to water once a month.
