Is Coffee and Coffee grounds really good for my garden?

How often can I spread coffee grounds on my garden. Are they also good for my lawn?

  • Answer:

maybe once a week, this is good because worms love coffee and when worms come into your garden the worms naturally cultivates the ground and helps your garden to breath and do better.

You can spread coffee grounds on you garden as long as you are growing plants that like acidic soil or if you soil is now alkaline otherwise spread it around you acid loving plants (Heather's, Azalea's Rhodo's)but probably not more than 3 times between mar. and sept. Probably not so good for you lawn, moss likes acidity

As often as you like i think... I saw that they offer coffee bean shells as mulch for your garden.. They have a wonderful smell, but i was told that the smell only lasts for a few weeks at most... and its very expensive mulch That said why would you want to spread coffee grounds?

I throw mine in the good ol' compost every day, have a thriving garden and the coffe grinds actually help aerate the soil. I don't have a problem with them at all and I've been doing it for years! Good Luck!

I typically mix my coffee grounds in my composter with everything else. Some plants love coffee grounds, others can't tolerate straight coffee grounds due to the acidity. I also compost my tea bags, bag & all minus the tag, unless they have whole cloves or other whole spices in them, because those do not break down as easily. Our tomatoes, rhubarb & strawberries thrive on this compost. Best Wishes!

I am not sure about coffee grounds but I use egg shells and banana peels and tomatoes all things that are organic and just going to be wasted at the house I generally just put them any where in the garden then in a few days I will till it in to the soil with a garden claw this seems to work just fine in my garden

remember to apply lime or pelletized gypsum if you discard a lot of grounds.
