How deep do you plant pine tree seeds?

Where can buy pine tree seeds?

  • I'm 11 and I want to plant a pine tree from seeds for service hours. There's this form that If I fill out from outdoor school I will get 10 hours even if it takes 2. I want to buy a kit where it comes with a little pot to plant it in. I don't want anything to be more than $10 though, thank you!

  • Answer:

You can get them for free if you can get to the woods. Look around at the pine trees in the woods and you will see baby pine trees growing all around them. They look like a small branch off of one of the trees and they are brighter. Pull them up and bring it home and replant it. It will grow as tall as the pine tree you got it from.

The seeds must indeed be ripe before they will produce seedlings. You can monitor the appearance of your pine cones over the year. When they are first produced, they are green; as they mature they will turn brown, and the seeds inside will ripen. Note that not all of the seeds will eventually produce seedlings.
