Which do compact fluorescent bulbs have the shortest warm-up period?

Will summer bulbs planted this spring have flowers this summer?

  • I was a bit confused about this. We live in CO, bought lily bulbs and iris bulbs. It says to plant them in the spring and they will bloom in summer, but does that mean THIS summer, or NEXT summer? I wasn't sure if these type of bulbs are like my tulips and daffodils that need a freeze/dormant period. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Yes, and better as the bulb gets larger. But some summer bulbs need to be taken up in fall and stored for the winter because they will not survive in the freezing ground. But it depends on your climate.
