How to convince my parents to let me redecorate my room?

  • Ok, I'm 18 years old, and when I was 5 we had a huge flood around our neighboorhood because of a lot of rain in the area. Now I'm 18 and we moved back to the house I origionally grew up in when I was 12. (Really complicated I no).. but anyways, When we moved back, I decorated my room like a twelve year old would want it to look like. Bright colors, really pre-teen like. Now that I'm 18 I'm so sick of it! The paint, the beds everything except for my dresser and my desk. And now I want a double bed canopy bed, and light purple walls. (I have two walls that are light green but the other two are the light purple I want. But then I just want black and white, with animal print comforters and I'll be happy. How can I convince my parents to let me do this. The only reason I need to ask them is because one, I still live with them. Two I don't have any money (since I don't have a job), But anyways, do you like my room idea? All of my other friends have redone their room like 3 years ago, and I've been wanting to do this since I was 14. (Basically since highschool). But do you like my room idea anyways? And how can I convince my parents to let me do this? And I'm a girl by the way (just incase your wondering)

    Just tell them you feel you've outgrown your room and you feel your space doesn't reflect on you anymore. I can relate to you a LOT! I made over my room when I was 18 too! At first, I was afraid there'd be no use, as I felt I was too old, but it was worth it! A complete bedroom 180. I'm now 20 and still enjoying this room through my college years. I've added onto it a bit. It actually inspired me to become an interior designer, because I never realized how much a room can effect your mood and state of calm. Go for it! I like your ideas. I have animal print corporated in my room as well (: CHILL on the unemployment remarks! You don't know this girl. Do you know how difficult it is to get a job??? There could be other reasons. Maybe she is focusing on school.

lololol youre 18 and unemployed? Get a job!! You parents honestly dont care how the room is decorated, what they care is for having to pay for everything. Get a job, buy the things you need and box all the things you dont want, your parents will not stop you from making your room look better.
