How much weight can a Loft Bed hold?

• I live in a small condo. My room is 10' x 12' and I'm looking to make some room. I have been looking at Loft Beds and I want to get one. The only problem I am running into is how much weight can they hold? I weigh 280lbs and I want to make sure that the bed can hold me at least me and 1-2 other girls. I'm basically needing it to hold like 500lbs do most loft beds hold that? Also what should I look for when finding a loft bed that can support that kinda weight: ie. metal frame, all wood, etc.

  Most any loft bed you purchase will not support you well. They are all wobbly even for kids. (This is why there are always tons of Ikea loft beds and others on Craigslist.) You can build a super sturdy one yourself with plans from this place called OP loft beds. Everything can be gotten at HD or Lowe's. Stay-home moms and people who have never built anything have made these beds using their plans. Look at the photo gallery. I bet you could build one, too!
