What to do to get more organized?

What's the best way to get organized to avoid all types of clutter in the bedroom.?

    First and foremost....get rid of anything that you truly don't need. Shelving is a must. The books and some toys can go on the shelves. Below the shelves put the plastic see-thru containers (I use the ones where the drawer slides out, no lid to remove so the containers will always be in place) beneath the shelves and label them. If your children can't read yet, put a picture of the type of toys that go into that container. These are also great for shoes. If you have stuffed animals or dolls, get those "pet nets" (that mesh netting you put in the corner on the walls) A GREAT thing for clothing are those clear space saver bags. You fill them up with clothing, suck the air out with your vaccum cleaner and they go flat. You can slide those under the bed or now they even make them where you can hang them in a closet. I have them and they are FANTASTIC! The key to a clutter-free room is having a place for everything and everything staying or going back in it's place. And to get rid of unwanted/unused things.

Buy a Closet Organizer, put shoes under the edge of the bed- get rid of Toys your to old, hang up the clothes, throw away all you can.

It really helps to get a friend involved and sort things into piles. Things you love and definately want to keep, things that you like but aren't sure you need and things to give to a charity shop/garage sale. If you haven't used something or worn a piece of clothing for 6 months - give it away or bin it. Less is more - you'll end up with a small treasured selection of belongings that you really love and enough space to store it.

I went out the cheap way. Any corner store you go to have milk crates use them to store almost anything then stack them away in your closet or basement.

Shelves will definitely help. Also some of the white stackable plastic storage boxes with drawers help. Use different sizes that stack. The idea is to get it so that everything has it's own place, that way when it is left where it is not supposed to go, you know exactly where it goes. There are also some cloth materials that will hang over the door to hang shoes in. They have a holder that you can stuff plastic bags in. Also, if you really don't need it, then get rid of it.

Reorganize your closet space! Closets are usually a big waste of space, so figure out what needs to fit in and come up with a plan. Move the rod around to fit another. Build some shelving to fit storage boxes that hold toys, bags etc. Go through everything without the kids around and donate old toys and clothing to charity.

Well, get a bookshelf for the books, you can get one at Walmart for about $20, that is the one I got, and it works great. Get an under-bed storage tote if you have nothing under the bed, this is great for the bags. Maybe get a separate one for other stuff. Get a "tall" shoe holder, I bought one for about $10 at Christmas Tree Shop. It takes up less room and holds a ton of shoes. They also have an over the door shoe holder if that works better. Put your pole to hang your clothes as high as you can, and use egg crates stacked below to store you sweatshirts, jeans, sweatpants, etc. Get some cheap totes and store summer stuff/ winter stuff, in the appropriate season. Put them in the attic or basement if you use a dehumidifier. Good luck!!
