Decorating a small bathroom?

Decorating Bathroom in a music theme. Please help!?

  • I'm basically remodeling our house and I've started with the bathrooms. One of our bathrooms is an old hollywood theme and iconic stars. I want to decorate our other bathroom in either a Classic Rock or Soul/Blues music theme. I'm thinking I'd rather do the soul music but I really don't know where to start. I have the photos and musicians I want in there already thought of but I need paint colors. Our Hollywood bathroom is sort of cream colored with black and some red accents. I'd like our music bathroom to be more bold colored. Nothing extremely dark, because it is sort of small. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Answer:

When I think of soul music, I think of the bright flashy outfits (like James Brown), to passion in the music and people dancing in nightclubs. So I'd do a bright red, like "heartthrob" by sherwin williams: http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_visualizer/index.jsp Check out how red works in this bathroom: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_colors/article/0,1793,HGTV_3368_5657622_04,00.html

I had to work with existing yellow tile on the walls in our bathroom. I made it black and yellow with touches of rose. I found a really great fabric to make the outer shower curtain out of at Jackman fabrics. It's a black background with small gold musical notes all over. You can't tell they're musical notes unless you really look hard.

I would look at the photos that you want to use and pull out some of the bold colours from that. I've seen nice statues of artists too so if you have room for a decorative shelf, you can incorporate some stuff like that. I can imagine a soft radio playing the blues as you walk in.. dim lights... good luck , sounds like a nice project.

i saw an episode of design on a dime (idk if youre familiar with it) where they remolded this guys room into a sort of harlem jazz lounge kind of feel, and they used a chocolate brown on the accent wall and a butterscotch on the rest of the walls. they threw in a lot of black and white bluesy art prints and had a deep, blood red accent color. it was gorgeoussss.

themed rooms are so lame.

Go find you some boarder. I can actually imagine you doing your walls in an antique washed color. So, more so Ivory/light cream for first coat with heavy sponging of a little darker beige to make the walls look like old antique paper. Then find some boarder that has music notes on it. If you can't find any. Find a music sheet. Make the lines across the paint job and paint in the notes. I think that would look awesome. Good Luck to ya.

That sounds cool , i would do the floor in the black and white checkered floor , and maybe even some black crown molding then add some other bold Britte color then do you accent colors. But do some color from the Pictures that you have chosen.

I'm a designer and I do not do themes. BUT if you do Soul/Blues, think New Orleans. There's your bold colors...Purple, Gold, Green, and Black (maybe some red).
