Salvation Army Thrift Store Question?

So I seen a metal headboard in the window like the kind I've been looking for. Brand new they are expensive. (around $300 starting) I've looked here a few times in the past couple months but this is the first queen I saw. I went in & happened to be queen size. They said that they would only sell it attached to mattress. I only need headboard I tell her but she says I can buy and redonate mattress to store. I asked her isn't that double dipping. I didn't think the salvation army operated out of profit. I really need & love this headboard. There were plenty of mattresses in back by themselves. Does this seem fair?

The Salvation Army needs that money to run its charitable programs. They'll do anything they can to maximize that profit, because it means they can help more people. It's still hella cheaper than buying it new, so why not buy it? If it really bothers you, take the mattress with you and donate it to Goodwill instead.

Its ok just buy it and leave the mattress ,anyway its for a good cause ...although some thrift stores are rip offs they get all this stuff for free and they want to sell it for really expensive .Salvation Army should be fine .I love thrift stores i always buy cool stuff there .

The Salvation Army wants to help others, they are not-for-profit- but their thrift stores need to make money to support their programs. However in this case tell them you need help. That by selling you ONLY the headboard they are helping you out. See how it works. Good Luck
