What is blended leather?

What is the difference between leather and 100% corrected grain leather?

  • Im looking to buy a sofa and the choosen one states that it is 100% corrected grain leather and I dont understand what this means, is it real leather or faux?

  • Answer:

Corrected Grain Leather is Real Leather that has been given the equivelent of a face lift. Usually the piece being used to begin with has imperfections not desired, where the animal has either rubbed up against a barbed wire fence or been injured and left scarring. First the leather hide has the original top layers of leather (skin) removed to create a more desireable piece. and the new piece once the layers are stripped, they are sanded or abraded to minimize faults. The skin is then pigmented to cover the sanding and printed / embossed with a more uniform leather grain. Corrected Grain leather is also called Top Grain Leather. Full Grain Leather is the leather that has had the hair removed, but usually not altered in many other way, except for coloring.
