Best interior decorator in bhopal?

Interior decorator, what are they and how to become one?

  • I would really love to be an interior decorator but I'm not sure if its an official term here in the UK. Can anyone tell me if it is, and if so how do you become one? Are there any interior decorating firms in Northern Ireland and how would I find them? By Interior decorator I mean someone who decides on all of the decorations, furniture, wall paper, curtains etc of a room, not someone who actually papers the walls. Everywhere I look all that seems to come up is interior designer, not interior decorator. Any help would be much appreciated :)

  • Answer:

I would try and get a few interior design magazines from a newsagents and look at some of the averts in the back of it as well. I have recently started using Twitter as well and just type in the word interior design there and you will find a wealth of information and people and businesses that you can follow to learn a little more about the industry.

Interior designer is the general term for what you want to do and its actually an interesting and broad subject. There are a few places that do it but it is mainly a freelance career in northern ireland if you want to only decorate interiors. The problem is that many architectural practises do the interior decoration when they design a building so you may have to work within an architectural practise. The reason it is called interior design and not decoration is answered in your question - because you are the 'designer' not the 'decorator', the designer designs the interior, chooses colours, fabrics etc the decorators carry out the work e.g 'painter and decorators' carpet fitters etc. As i said, it is a broad subject because it is a design subject, many designers work within many different design jobs, an interior designer may also design furniture, or textiles for example. If you want to do this as a career you would need to study it in university - Uni of Ulster Belfast does it - the course is called 3D Design - you study the basic building blocks of design then pick a more specific design field like interior design, hope this answers your question..

If you don't mind me saying you sound as though you on the verge of entering the word of employment. So a young person! Young or not this will still apply. Doing a course or courses will do you no harm, but don't be to worried about having qualifications at the start. Interior design is a knack you have to have an eye for it and what I'm about to tell you will put you hands on, right in the thick of it, on day one On Saturday morning go round to as many interior design shops as you can and tell them you are willing to work for NOTHING to learn as much as you can about interior design ( right away they will love you for it ) if possible try to get involved with a couple of companies over the week end. You must insist in one proviso, that you go out to the jobs they have on now and again, to see both sides of the counter. Once your in, get your head down, don't wait to be told to do something, think ahead as to what needs doing next and offer to do it before your asked. While dealing with fabric, paints, wall papers and furnishings may make your eyes open wide with delight NOTE all the ways of saving money for both your boss and client, because in the end the jobs you work on will be all down to cost. You will be gaining invaluable experience from day one and it could be said that this is your pay; but don't worry about being paid, the harder you work the the harder it will become for your employer not to pay you. To answer the question: An interior decorator is the person who put the paint and wall paper on. An interior designer is what you want to be. Good luck
