How do i get this stain out?

How can I get Ink stain out of wood?

  • So I picked up this old dresser for cheap planning to restore it. I noticed it had three large (2in x 3in) spots of black ink on the top. I thought no big deal those should come off after I sand a bit. Nope! As I began to sand I relized that the ink had seeped through where the stain/varnish had been cracking from age. So the ink is soaked into the wood. Who knows how long its been there too! So I tried sanding and sanding and sanding...but the stains are still there! What can I do to remove these stains? Please help! Is there a special product that I can buy? I'd rather buy something than use some home made mix. This dresser will be worth about 500 restored. I paid 50. I MUST restore it to greatness and get that awful ink gone! Please help! Thank you for taking the time to read and answer!!

  • Answer:

Using a terry cloth rag, slightly larger than the stain. Dampen the rag with an emulsifier like acetone and lay on top of the stain and let dry. This process will have to be repeated several times, but will draw (suck) out most stains.
