Different/alternative bed frames?

My bedroom is in a newly renovated basement. The staircase (the only way to get to my room) is very narrow. It's impossible to fit a regular metal twin sized bed frame down the stairs. I need storage under my bed so I can't just leave my mattress on the floor. I'm looking for a bed frame that maybe comes in pieces in a box, something that I can assemble in my room. I need something that will fit down the stairs! My brother said he's seen an "assemble it yourself" bed frame or something like that in a mall once. Does anyone know what that type of bed frame that is and/or where to buy it?
