RE: Feng Shui, small spaces?
-
My rented space is a 14 x 17 foot room--w/ the exception of eating and very little else, I live in this *completely* blackened out space all day long as the result of extremely photosensitive Lupus (my skin burns terribly and my joints swell and hurt beyond the ability of medicines to assuage them. I realize that to try decorating my space, I'm already dealing with 2 (3, actually) Feng Shui fundamentals: 1) A lit room (often brightly lit) is crucial to Feng Shui but not possible--any time of the day--for me. 2) I don't have an entire home to space Feng Shui symbols in (esp. as, according to Lilian Too, no symbols should ever be placed in a bedroom.) 3) Some Feng Shui symbols depict water with them, how do you place these? The big thing is, I know there has to be compromise when living in such a small space, but I do have some very pretty Asian art (a good deal Feng Shui specific) and I, like anyone, would like to live in harmony : ) p.s. Speaking of harmony, I've read a good share of Feng Shui books and I need a little clarification on the elemental cycle. This space I live in is painted all white (a metal color,) and is filled with furniture of wood so pretty I'd never part with it. Also, of the picture frames going up, about 16 of them, the majority are wood while 4 are wood painted a very pretty antique gold color. I thank you and look forward to your responses : )

Answer:
there is really no such thing as fengshui fundamentals, there is only the fengshui methods. in fengshui, the whole house is always considered as 1 unit - not just your bedroom. i dont really know why most people are so obsessed with their bedrooms only. put it this way, the whole house must have at least 70% good fengshui, or you dont get to enjoy good fengshui - bec the bad energy will just negate the good energy that you have created. and even if you just live in that 1 room, the whole house is still more important than the bedroom. first, because you need to have your bedroom in a location in the house with good energy combination - you do this by plotting out the flying star chart of the house. dont take the elemental cycle too literal - i did before, as some authors talk about these. books are not the best source of info regarding fengshui. i took seminars under some fengshui masters just to learn fengshui. you can read books by joey yap - i dont really like lillian too's books, even though both authors learned their craft from master yap cheng hai, whom i took my fengshui seminars. =) the elemental cycle is important only when used correctly. colors dont apply (it has no power) in fengshui, except bright colors red, orange, yellow/ gold), as these can activate both good energy and bad energy. for me, symbols are of the mind, not of fengshui... so they are not that powerful. bec you need to keep on believing on them for them to work - not fengshui at all! for me, i like to practice fengshui, that whether i am aware of it or not, it still works. regarding your illness, my best advice is try to learn xuan kong flying stars, try getting a book by joey yap or eva wong's an advanced course in fengshui. then get a compass measure the facing of the front door of the house (not bedroom), then plot out the energy distribution of the house. see where your room is located, analyze if the bedroom can be moved to a location with good energy. when your bedroom is located in a location with bad energy, there is nothing you can do. for me, remedies just dont work. not to the point that it can heal you. so basically remedies are useless.
