What is the best way to clean old vinyl tile floor?

Painting over a vinyl tile floor?

I was wondering if was possible to paint over a vinyl tile floor. If you have done this, did it last long?
Answer:

strip it, get binzer primer and paint first coat, then paint desired color(you may want to use a glazing paint technique to make it look marbled) then when you have the look you desire, seal it with several coats of polyurethane. Be sure to allow for proper drying in between coats. Will look great and poly is very durable.

Unless they have a super paint...NO DON'T DO IT. You will need to cover it over. sorry

yes I have= make sure the floor is TOTALLY stripped of any floor wax and is really clean - put down a thin layer of a white base ( make sure it is very dry ) then paint away

You can paint over anything really, it just won't be real durable. You will be repainting it again but if you don't walk on it with shoes it may look good for quite awhile.
