How can I make my room look amazing when I clean it?

I'm giving my room a makeover. How do I make it look more spacious?

  • See..I'm sort of a weird person. Here, I'm stuck in a village in the middle of the woods, where I'd rather be in the middle of a spacious suburb with those brand newly-built houses, no trees, and lots, and lots of sun! Well, since I don't have that, how can I give my room that feeling, if you understand what I mean. Its a fairly small room, about 12 x 12 give or take. I have wooden floors, medium shade brown I guess. I'm painting my walls a light green color (they're now a bright blue) because I'm hoping that will match a bit better with my floors. I'm getting rid of two of my dressers, so the only furniture left will be a twin bed, a black piano, a brown bookcase about 2 feet long/tall, and a computer desk about 3 feet long/tall. I'm all set with most decorations and pillows, and blankets, but I'd like to get some ideas from you. What color bedspread should I get? I'd like something solid colored. And also, the walls in my friends' rooms are COVERED in stuff on the walls and it looks really cool, and I feel like thats what my room should look like, but would less decoration give me more of that spacious, sunny, suburbia feel? How can I make my room like that? Area rugs, solid colors, minimal decoration, as little clutter/furniture as possible? Thanks! =]

  • Answer:

I have light green in my living room an matched it up with white and light wood furniture. Feels pretty big. White trim, I'd say white bed spread, white curtains. Mirrors are a good idea but don't clutter up your walls or anything too much. Maybe get some storage boxes for under the bed to hide some stuff away. Good luck.

try to paint the walls a nice light colour. get as many mirrors on the walls to make the room look lighter..try to hide any stuff under the bed or in a box out the way.. good luck

painting it a lighter color will make it look bigger. darker colors make rooms look smaller.

Do not paint it dark colours, maybe you could even paint the walls white instead of a light green, although light green is ok it's just harder to match furniture to. Also use mirrors, that'll help it, but put them in the right places so it's not too reflection-y. If you get my meaning. Good luck decorating xx

I would take advantages off all the corners you have in the room and relocate furniture or change their position in the room, but the way to make it more sunny and light i will paint the walls in a nice warm colour like mustard or pink but green is also a nice colour to pain a room.

Don't clutter the walls, modern is sleek and an almost empty feeling, use bold colors, few patterns. Darker colors will make it feel smaller.

try a summery theme with lots of lime greens yellows and oranges also get plenty of lamps or leave your curtains open =] x
