How to make wall decor?

How do you take a t-shirt, and make it a pillow?

  • I have some older, funny saying t-shirts, that I would love to take, and make a pillows for decor... I have already some of these funny saying t-shirts hung up on my wall... so it would be fun, and cute to have some pillows to match... suggestions?!

  • Answer:

Simple Version: Sew the armholes and bottom of the T-shirt closed. Don't sew up the hole for the head, because that's how you are going to stuff your T-shirt. To sew up the holes, turn the T-shirt inside out. This way when you turn the shirt right side out, you won't be able to see your stitches. Then, put a knot at the end of your thread so it won't go all the way through the shirt when you sew. Poke the needle through the T-shirt and push it all the way through so it's sticking out on the other side. Pull the needle and thread through the T-shirt. Now poke the needle through the front of the shirt again. Keep doing this until you've gone all the way across. After you've sewn the bottom and the arm-holes closed, turn the shirt right-side out. Now it's time to stuff it. Push the cotton stuffing into the hole for the head. Make sure you get the cotton into the sleeves. When you are done stuffing your T-shirt, sew the hole for the head closed. Flip it inside out and sew up the arms, neck and most of the bottom. Flip is rightside out using the small hole (yes, it's tricky) and stuff. That way it is stiched up nice like a real pillow and you can't see the stiches and strings.

Petra

simply stitch the sleeves (do this inside out of course) flip it back right side in and stuff with stuffing (perhaps from ann old pillow or with feathers or cotton doesn't matter it s up to you) and then sew up the bottom! good luck! :]]

Hmm, how about sew the neck hole shut, then chop off the sleeves to get a roughly rectangular shape and then sew the arm and bottom holes shut after you finish stuffing the insides.

Steve

well, sew closed the arm and neck holes. then buy some stuffing, like polyester fiberfill, and stuff it into the shirt. make sure it gets into the arms. then wen it is as full as you want it to be, sew closed the bottom of the shirt. hope this helps.
