Are carpet beetles harmful to human health?

What do you do to stop bugs from eating your clothes? I've seen some carpet beetles and silverfish. Advice? ?

• I can't hire an exterminator due to chemical sensitivites from all pesticides. I have a neurological disease that rules this out. I use Muleteam Borax in with my laundry. Heard this repels certain insects, but it isn't working. Perhaps the taste of them chewing clothes that were washed with bleach would work better? However, not healthy for myself. I suspect the carpet beetles most, because I had silverfish in a previous house and don't recall this happening. The bugs seem to like feasting on tee shirt materials and even those type of comfy jersey sheets right on your bed. Yuck! Found one in my bed and a bug expert identified it as a carpet beetle. Their holes are round and resemble cigarette burn holes. I don't smoke. Has anyone dealt with this problem? The odor from mothballs make me ill, so that won't work either. I wonder now if they are laying eggs in my clothes too. I can't afford a to buy a dryer and can't drive to the laundromat. I do own a washer and hang dry my clothes on folding racks. Any helpful advice or sharing of your own experiences with carpet beetles eating clothes would be appreciated.

  cedar wood is a natural bug repellent, and they make cedar balls & should be next to the moth balls at the store. cedar is pretty strong smelling too but way better then moth balls
