How can I remove a Rust Stain from a Cream Wool Rug?!?

  • My dog peed on the leg of a settee that sits on a very expensive cream-coloured wool carpet. To make matters worse, it's not mine. I've managed to remove most of the pee but the pee itself caused the leg of the settee to leave a heavy rust stain. It's paled somewhat as we've attempted to remove the pee stain, but can anyone recommend anything that might dissolve the rust stain without causing any damage or further discolouration to the rug?

Go to a dry-cleaner and ask for a specialised rust remover. I had rust stains on my carpet from old cast-iron wheels on my bed and the carpet-cleaner man removed them in no time flat -- they disappeared! Brilliant! He said it was just simple rust remover but that I would find it at a drycleaner's, rather than the supermarket.

Dry cleaners use hydrofluoric acid. It works extremely well, but be careful: it's also very easy to burn yourself with it.

In your AVON or HOMECARE catalouge, you can get a product called White Wizard.. that will remove ANYTHING from ANYTHING. but it can't erase the past. So be careful in future :p

There is a cleaning product called iron out.Try to dilute it with water,spray the spot and blot it out.
