How can I stretch my skinny stretch jeans out?

How can i stretch to lenghten a pair of jeans?

  • i got these jeans which were perfect length, but shortened themselves after a wash is there a way to stretch them back out to original length?

  • Answer:

To prevent shrinking: Wash jeans in cold water only. Don't put jeans in the dryer after you wash them. Let them air dry and then put them in the dryer on very low heat to get the wrinkles out and soften them up a bit. To lengthen jeans: The best thing you can do is stretch the legs when it comes out of the wash (still wet) and hang it up to air dry by clipping the waist to a hanger and letting gravity pull on them. It may be too late, but hopefully you can get some of the length back. Good luck.

Typically (as you now know) jeans will shrink a size or two in the length, and a size in the waist upon the first couple of washings. Usually, buy a length slightly longer then your measurement. I have had a little success by washing them again, and while they are still wet (not dripping, but wet) "stretch" them by hand. Or if you have a buddy around, each get on an end and pull like crazy on each leg. Then let them drip dry (over a shower curtain rod, for example). Its the heat of the dryer that does the most shrinkage. Mike
