How to treat dark armpits?

How do you get rid of sweaty smell from shirt armpits?

  • My son has a manual job and even though he showers every day and uses a good quality deodorant his shirt armpits get a bit sweaty. I use a good brand of washing detergent but sometimes the armpits still smell a little sweaty. Is there anything I can treat them with before I wash them to help stop this.

  • Answer:

Put some bi-carbonate of soda in with the washing powder, works for my smellies!

crush a washing tablet or rubs powder into the before washing the shirt. Just means there is a concentrated amount of powder in those areas. I used to skate a lot and my ma used to do this with my sweaty clothes as a kid. fS

If they are white, try bleach. Or just wash in HOT water. Should do the trick, maybe some good scented fabric softeners and/ or the ones for in the dryer.

I'm kinda confused. Well, there is nothing you can do about the sweaty wet marks, but to make them stop smelling, you can put deodorant under the pits, as well as the shirt. This really works.

Febreeze fabric deordorizer. If you have manual laborers in your house that come home wearing their work, literally, it works w-o-n-d-e-r-s. Have a relative that comes home with the smells of 8 different cleaners, grease and more, but washing the clothes in Febreeze along with a favorite detergent takes it out. The Febreeze detergents don't do this, though, you have to get the liquid. Another method is using Woolite. It masks it with a dry cleaning smell (which some folks associate with a clean smell, like line dried clothes).

Make sure that the detergent you use contains TAED and percarbonates or perborates. These ensure that your clothes will be sterilised even at low temperatures thus killing the bacteria that causes body odours on clothes. Liquid detergents, gels and bio washing powders do not do this.

Try a hotter wash & decent quality washing powder. If biological doesn't make your skin itch use that. (I use normal powder) 50 or 60 degrees I still think is better for natural fibres. 40 degrees usually OK for synthetics. Could always try cotton shirts which breathe rather better than nylon/polyester etc. Hope this helps.

Try rubbing something like Vanish soap on them, leave it to soak in and then wash the shirt. You may have to do it a few times for it to make any differance.

you can get this clear crystal bar thingy that looks like a soap and you use it like a soap nd it actually works lol
