How to use a PBX machine?

Old washing machine causing quicker fading? Use laundry nets?

  • Hi, every time I throw a new dark/black shirt or hoodie into the washing machine, it comes out somewhat faded, after just one wash.... I use cold water, very little detergent (woolite for darks), flip clothes inside out, use the lowest cycle, and sometimes just wash one article at a time to test... I hang my clothes in the garage to dry too, I don't use a dryer... Basically, I've come to the conslusion that I THINK my old washing machine is causing this.... It's VERY old, probably 15 years old, haha... Aside from getting a new one, what can I do? I've heard of "laundry bags/nets"? Would these protect my clothes from the washing machine? Because I don't think anything else could be responsible for fading my clothes so quickly... Thanks

  • Answer:

When your clothes are new, you can 'set' the dye by washing them with a cup of salt added to the water. It's hard to remember to do this. Another thing I thought of is the quality of your water. Ask our neighbors if they've noticed the same thing, if the answer is yes- it could be the water rather than the washer.
