Why are my arms discolored?

Old discolored cotton sweater?

• I recently got this old cotton sweater from my grandmother, and somehow its gotten discolored in the stomach area (before i got it). Its only on the stomach area, not on the arms or so. Its a white and marine blue patterned sweater, but only the white is discolored. Is there any way I can make the discoloring go away? Its not that bad, but bad enough that i wouldn't want to wear it in public.. its so sad, because its such a pretty sweater.

  is it discolored from age or from being stored dirty? You know how one little stain will get bigger and worse? Well, either way, if it's 100% cotton, you might be in luck. The iffy part will be the blue, but you can't really ruin it any more than it is, so I'd go for it. Mix borax powder and Oxy-type stain remover. I'd do about a cup total in enough warm water to soak the sweater--a couple of gallons? Then soak it overnight. Wash it on gentle with regular soap -whatever you usually use --and if it's still stainy, soak it again and wash it again.
