How to hand-wash a bra?
-
This seems like a dumb question, but I'm really not sure of how to do it. I just got a really nice bra, and I don't want it to end up like my others - all stretched out and with bad elastic. So, I don't want to put it in the washing machine. We only have powdered laundry soap - should I try scrubbing it with that? Or is it okay to use maybe dish soap or body wash? I don't just want to rinse it out. I know, that's a no-brainer, but I want to actually use some soap on the thing. If I can't thoroughly wash it without liquid laundry soap, is there a way to wash it in the washing machine that will be less hard on it? I've tried putting it in a pillowcase on the delicate cycle, and it came out alright - I'd just really rather not use the washing machine. Sorry for the silly question, but any help?

Answer:
Dissolve some laundry powder in warm water and leave the bra to soak. You can even leave it overnight, but if you have only worn it once it doesn't need to be as long as that. If it has perspiration marks you can gently rub that area. Then rinse it in several changes of clean water, squeeze it gently and hang it up to dry. You can roll it in a towel and press some moisture out if you like. Any hand washing can be done this way. When I first had a flat without a washing machine I did all my laundry like this. It sounds as though you have been washing your other bras on too hot a cycle - the water should be no warmer than is comfortable to leave your hands in. Only things like towels need a hotter wash. Check the recommended temperature on the care labels.

You could let it soak in the sink, just add a little bit of detergent, then rinse it and hang it to dry. You could also put it in the washing machine on delicate with nothing else except other bras and small things, just make sure you close the back of the bra and let it hang to dry after, it should be fine, that's how I wash mine.

Honestly when washing my bra, it may seem weird but I use laundry soap or dish soap. Either way you are getting the dirt and grime off , right? You can try that the worst thing that will happen is it won't be clean enough for you but it should do the trick. Also, Just use your kitchen sink, clean it out and wipe it down. Fill it with hot water and pour the soap right on the bra and scrub.

I just take one in the shower with me every once and awhile and wash it with liquid caress soap. Then I roll it up in a towel to squeeze out the rest of the water and hang it up to dry. Unless you sweat a lot, bras really don't get dirty so you don't have to wash them all that often...I have 4 bras and I usually wash one of them a week.

Run warm water in the bathroom tap and put bubble bath in it and then put the bra in it and slowly and carefully clenze the moister of the material in the water and then take it out and put it in ur tumble dryer, or if u dont have that, u can just put it on the line or in front of a heater. Hope this helps.

fill up your sink with water. you can use liquid hand soap or just body wash; anything with suds. run the soap down with the water to make bubbles. then, wet your bra. put soapy water in your hands. sort of massage it with your hands. then, let it soak for several minutes and re- massage it. drain the sink and rinse you bra. soak it in new soap-less water. air dry. don't wash it too often or else your bra will start to fall apart. hope this helps! :)
you could just use some liquid hand soap and scrub it with that and lay it out to dry. i use to have to hand wash my thongs when i was like 12 cuz my dad would always find them when he was doing laundry and throw them away and get mad at me lol

Dish soap or powdered soap could both leave you pretty itchy unless you rinse it several times. Woolite is made for such things, I would just grab a bottle of that and follow the directions.

You probably shouldn't scrub it with anything since that can be just as hard on it especially if tis lacey. Try letting the powdered laundry detergent disolve in some water and let the bra soak for a little while.

fill up a sink with warm water, and add a tiny bit of your dry detergent. don't use your hand soap, dish soap, or body soap. it breaks down the fibers faster. swish it around, until it is dissolved and a little bubbly. then wash, dunk, and squeeze. don't rub!!! it breaks down the elastic. dunk, and under the water, squeeze it a little, do this a few times, and then empty the sink, fill it up, and do it again. empty it out, and make sure that the sink is clean, and fill it one more time, and make sure that the water is not soapy. if you added too much soap, just hold it under the running (and cooler) water, while squeezing gently. should take pretty good care of it.
