How do you hand wash clothes?

  • I'm living in a dorm and I have been washing most of my clothes in a washing machine. I bought some new clothes that say to only "hand wash". For the past while I've been going back home and my mom just hand washes them. I'd like to learn how to on my own, so she doesn't ruin another one of my shirts, haha. I have tide detergent, oxy clean, and a recycle bin I can wash things in, if that helps.

    First of all, hand wash just means soaking it in the sink with the temperature the label suggests. Add Woolite, or other mild detergent, rinse, hang dry, or dry flat....... I recenly bought a laundry bag, that zips closed, has little holes in it, and is specifically used for delicates. Bras, lace panties, camisoles, etc. For a newbie like you, just soak in the sink, & rinse after 5-10 minutes.

Soak the clothes in soap and water. Under the arms will need special cleaning. Take one side of the arm pit in the left hand and the other side in the right hand and rub the material together and keeping dipping it in the water while you do that. Gets the BO out. Move the garment around in the water and dip it in and out of the water. Rinse in clear water real good and hang. In our humidity, laying clothes will not dry them.
