How do you stop wet football boots smelling?

What is the best way to look after your football boots and stop them from smelling?

  • My sons football boots stink!! They get washed and dried out every week, but they still smell very earthy... any ideas on how to stop this? Thanks

  • Answer:

Hi, after his game of footy, remove the excess mud/grass etc, then use warm water with a small amount of washing up liquid to clean the outside of the boots but try not to soak the boots, (if you do when finished stuff the insides with newspaper this will keep their shape). Dry with paper towels then use some shoe polish or saddle soap if the boots are made of leather, if the material is not leather, use some furniture polish. For the smell, sprinkle a good amount of Bicarbonate of Soda into the shoes and leave overnight, this will soak up the smell and in the morning they should be a lot better. Hope this helps :-)

stuff with old newspaper after playing. so they keep their shape. once they dry out use a scrubbing brush to get the grass and mud off.then give them a good coating of dubbing.this will prolong the leather life.if they are just dried, the leather cracks then starts ripping.
