Hand wash bra in washing machine?
-
I have a la Senza bra made from 82% polyamide and elastane. It says on the label to hand wash in cold water. What a pain! I want to bung it in the washing with the rest of my clothes, but how much will this ruin the bra? It is delicately embellished with thin lace like material, I don't know if this will ruin in the machine. Anyone know from experience?

Answer:
I never hand wash anything. Go buy one of those plastic balls that you can wash undergarments in - it's plastic with holes all around it and you can snap it closed. They sell them at most linen and organization stores for $8-10 and they are designed specifically to machine wash delicate bras. Put the bra in there and was it in a cold/gentle cycle and then let it air dry. The instructions on the label are designed to minimize the risk to the clothing manufacturer, not necessarily increase our convenience! They aren't always the way to go.

Sometimes, you are advised to wash bras by hand as in some the underwires can come loose and damage the machine. Part of the reason they have to put this on the care label is to be cautious. If you do wash it in a machine and really dont want to hand wash, I suggest you buy a 'delicates bag' from a store such as Wilkinsons (or anywhere else that sells house type stuff). If you can't find one, I use an old pillowcase tied with a hair elastic. It gets a good wash, but isn't loose in the machine.

I always wash mine in the machine whatever it says on the label, however, with padded bras after about a year of washing them, they get a bit misshapen. try a delicate wash in the machine.

Hand wash means wash by 'hand' Dont take the risk of washing it in the machine

It´ll only take 5 mins to rinse it through in the sink. Don´t risk it................

cyn city wot is your problem? i never hand wash any of my underwear evn the stuff that says hand wash only. it probably wont shrink, they say hand wash because its delicate - the lace etc may start to wear out if washed in a machine. chances are it will be fine. if you do machine wash it probaly wont last as long though. put it through the coldest, shortest cycle possible and protect it by pushing it into an old pair of tights (stockings pop socks, whatever) or a mesh laundry bag if you have any. this will reduce wear on the delicate fabric.

Do you have a hand wash programme on your washing machine? If not, put it in on a 30 degree wash, but do it on it's own.
I wash mine in the washer with all my clothes. Get a lingerie washing bag, you can get them anywhere. It's a white mesh bag with a draw string. Never had a problem
