How can i clean out my shower drain?

  • its gross, but theres a buncha hair like in the top of my shower drain, so how do i pull/clean the hair out?

  • Answer:

You can pull the hair with coat hanger wire bent on the end. Or you can go to hardware store and buy Liquid Fire drain cleaner, it will eat through hair, it is dangerous, WEAR SAFETY GLASSES, and rubber gloves, read instructions. Ace hardware stocks this item. I think it is the only cleaner that will clean out the hair. Pour very slowly in drain do not get on decorative trim. good Luck

Pull the hair out. It's gross, but you gotta do it. You can use Draino or some other brand of drain cleaner to help clean what you can't get to. An inexpensive way to clean your drains: Once a week put a tablespoon of baking soda in the drain, then pour about 1/4 cup of vinegar down it. This works.

Thats why we have disposable gloves. Just use it to get the hair out and dump it. Clean it weekly, (or even daily) so you do not have to deal with a major gross build-up of garbage.

You best bet is to dump a gallon of bleach down your drain. It's going to kill the bacteria and gunk on the hair and that should allow the hair to move down the drain. If that doesn't work get or make a hook and pull out the clumps of hair.

pull the hair out (lol) and get a strainer so this wont happen as much.
