Usually WC means toilet or washroom in some countries. What WC really stand for ?

many years ago I went to Europe and asked what a water closet was because I had never heard that expression for a bathroom. wc also means here in the USA a wheelchair if you needed to abbreviate medical supplies.

yes water closet is correct and still used in this country as well. most people don't know that. it IS it's origanal name and probably started in the USA. I'm in construction and still see WC on an architech's drawing's..
