Do maggots get drunk when you bury an alcoholic?

Do maggots grow from baby spit up? How do I get rid of maggots in my carpet?!?

  • I noticed maggots growing from a small spot in my bedroom by the door where we don't normally tread on. I panicked and sprayed bathroom cleanier with bleach on the maggots and cleaned them up. Then I sprayed the surrounding area. Everything looked good, so I decided to clean and vacuum the entire house. I hope this doesn't spread the larvae. We don't eat in our rooms and the rest of the house is hardwood. I'm very clean so I'm super upset as to how I have these maggots. I'm thinking it could be from my baby's spit up that I someone missed because our Berber carpet is a light beige color. Could it be from the spit up? I don't have flies around my house and we have our house professionally sprayed inside and outside for bugs every three months. Going back to the maggots, this was Saturday morning beginning of March when I saw them. My husband and I kept an eye on the spot and we didn't see any Sunday morning. But Sunday around noon, they were there again and this time more of them had wings!!! Do they multiply and grow that fast? This time we sprayed it with straight bleached and then poured boiling water over the spot and then steam clean the carpet with our carpet cleaner and solution. Please help. I just want to cut up that spot of the carpet and throw it away iIf they come back, but htis is a last resort. I checked the rest of the house and so far, I see nothing else. Is there a sure way to rid them for good?

I would do a little investigating around the doorway...is it an exterior door or an inside door? Is there a hole or opening there? I don't think you would get maggots from a little spit up, especially since you are very clean and probably constantly vacuum etc. Sounds like something beyond the carpet and either in the floorboards or walls or casing etc. Maggots are a result of flies laying eggs on organic material usually in a situation where there is a lot of garbage or food left out...or something has died. That's why I don't think it's the spit up. It could even be a dead mouse or other wildlife that has made it's way into the house between the floors or in the walls. It happens all the time, but usually there is a smell associated with that. Since you have used the bleach and cleaner, it will be hard to notice it now, but do some more investigating. I had a squirrel that made it's way into my roof and ended up between my first and second floor, but luckily he went out during the day and we managed to find the spot where he was getting in and sealed it off before he returned. Good luck!

Flies lay their eggs in just about anything they may be rotting, just keep vacuuming and they will go away, just make sure you clean the dust cup or the bag. This can happen to anyone, it probably was spit up, we can't catch everything.

no and use some spray.
