    Use a slightly damp cloth and I know this sounds wierd but some unperfumed polish get the tiniest amount of polish on you cloth and spread it aroud on your jacket then doing sections at a time work your way around it but brush the polish of as you go with a seperate clean slightly damp cloth.

try and buy a product called saddle soap.Its sold over here in the U.K its used for leather saddles and bridles etc as it nourishes leather and keeps it soft clean and supple .always used it to clean my coats
