Help!? what do i do about my insomnia!?
-
I've had insomnia for over 2 years now. I'm 15 years old and I was prescribed clonidine for my insomnia. it's also for high blood pressure.(Which I don't have.) Since I started taking it, it gave me difficulty falling asleep but I had no problem staying asleep. Now I can't ever fall asleep nor stay asleep an if I do fall asleep I wake up about 8 times a night. Please help me, my dad won't take me to the doctors no matter how many times I ask. I go to school tired an I come home tired. An even when I am tired I can't fall asleep. It's affecting me at school. I feel like I'm going insane I stayed up all night wondering around the house trying to get tired. The medication doesnt even make me a bit tired. I also take Adderall, Lexapro & Claritin. I'm going insane staying up till 5am in the morning trying to sleep when I have to be awake at 6am. I'm not stressed or anything like that etc. I have tired reading books an everything imaginable. I don't sleep with the tv on nor do I ever. It takes me at least 2 hours to fall asleep. I don't force myself to sleep. I have tried insomnia medication from stores etc. Nothing is working. My father even has sleep apnea.

Guy above me is a spammer. edit - wonder why that guy deleted his post, oh well First of all, your dad can't negate you about going to the doctor! Why would he do that? Take a warm shower before bed. It's a great way to relax your body. Don't overdo it, however. You merely want to relax your body, not exhaust it. Too long in hot water and your body is drained of vitality. Oh and DITCH THE MEDICATION for this one night, see how it works out with these remedies! You can also listen to soft soothing music as you sleep, it will work! What my friend used to do, he had insomnia btw, is he used to drink warm milk before bed. Don't know how it works, it will soothe your nervous system. I'm sure some of these will work, hun. Just keep at it. I hope you can sleep well.

I've been on clonidine for 2 years now, and I've noticed some things that can help you. Take the pill ATLEAST 2 or 3 hours before you get into bed. Eat right before or after you take it. Exercising before bed helps the meds kick in, and heat up some milk to drink while you're trying to fall asleep. ALSO - I would go get over the counter medicines like Tylenol PM and take those along with my clonidine. I think that helped the most. I like how some jerk gave me a thumbs down.. What the hell?! haha.
