What will happen if lymphocytes are absent in w.b.c?

What does it mean when your WBC is always high?

  • My WBC has been in the range of 13 to 17 with WBC MORPH REACTIVE LYMPHOCYTES(what ever that is) and high platelet count; should I be concerned about this? My doctors have never mentioned it and I have been to several doctors because I have severe edema in both my legs for the past 2 years and they haven't found the cause of the edema. This is a copy of last test. WBC 13.20 RBC 4.63 HGB 14.7 HCT 43.4 MCV 93.8 MCH 31.8 MCHC 33.9 RDW 13.4 PLATELET COUNT 421

  • Answer:

well, after reading your question and your lab results...which help tremendously...i think it would be a good idea to start off by saying let's talk about your HCT first. HCT is short for "hematocrit", which is a test performed by pricking your finger, then filling up a thin, small tube with the blood from that finger prick. Then, it is spun at very high speeds and then measured. The number you have for your HCT is 43.4 which is 43.3% red blood cells. The amount of red blood cells is the average in your body as estimated by this simple test. With the normal range being 45 to 55% in the average person. Since yours is slightly lower than normal, this means your white cell count is up. When this happens, your body is fighting to get it back to normal. With the edema (swelling) in your legs, it's likely causing alot of tissue expansion and cell changes in your legs and muscles, which means your white cells have to be the "nurses" of your body and try to take care of them to keep them "normal". You will find that stretching your legs quite often may help. I personally have an issue with "peripheal edema" (swelling in the outer extremeties -feet) and have been seeing a chiropractor. He has been adjusting my back and the focusing on the area of the spine that controls the nerves to the bladder and the feet, stimulating them to move that water out of my body. This has been successful and I have found that going a more natural route to healing has been more pleasant and has made me more aware of how my body works and why so that I may benefit in the long run.. I would definatly suggest seeing a holistic (natural) chiropractor on average 2 times a week until this all clears up. You will be amazed how it will help your legs and the swelling!
