How can I test my pain threshold?

Do preemies have a high pain threshold?

  • Ok, so I was born 3 months premature, and I was just wondering, do preemies have a high pain tolerance or a low one. I've seen articles claiming they have a high pain threshold, and some say they are more sensitive to pain. The real reason I'm asking is because I have an epipen and am afraid to use it if the time came. I hate needles, and I can't really prepare myself for the pain of an epipen, and I am just very scared. So I was hoping that us preemies have a high pain tolerance so that I can handle the needle, because how big is it? And does it hurt? HELP?!?

  • Answer:

my friend is also 3 months premature and she cries a lot and doesnt have a very high pain tolerance. i dont think the fact that you are premature has anything to do with your ability to feel pain. you should be able to tell whether you handle pain well or not. if you have to use your epipen then youll be more focused on the reason you have to use it. needles arent really a pleasant feeling, but it doesnt last long and a mild discomfort is a small price to pay. try not to stress out about it, and if you have more questions ask your doctor
