Answer:
I thought the same thing you did. It ended up being tinitus. There is no cure for it. Also, earplugs won't work if it is tinitus, so get some earplugs and see if they block the noise. If you don't hear any noise, you are okay.

Have you had your ears checked by a doctor? Sometimes the causes are physical and can be rectified. Sometimes it could be tinnitus that does not go away, ever. I have a sound in my ears when I am tired that sounds like air moving through pine trees. It does not go away. Find some comfortable ear plus and try wearing them to bed. Or you could find some "white" sound like waves, rain showers, waterfalls...etc to listen to so you don't hear the electrical sound.

i think you are gifted... you may be hearing noises from 'out there' they are trying to communicate to you. when you hear the noises again, do as the biblical person did... step out of the bed and say "Here I am, Speak to me o mighty aliens from beyond!"

Tinnitus isn't stopped by earplugs since the sound is actually inside your head. If the sound is indeed blocked with earplugs, it could be electrical equipment. Do you have a satellite box and TV in the bedroom? It could be from that. In any case, see your doctor, have your ears cleaned (excessive wax can cause ringing in the ears) and have your hearing checked, just to be on the safe side.

Could be a light making a high pitched sound or other equipment- so- why not shut off what ever you can or get some earplugs or head phones that block out noise- if you can plug your ears and still hear it it may be tinnitus- and allergies can aggravate that -so can tea, soda, caffeine, chocolate,-D

do you have bats anywhere in the locality? Also, get your ears syringed by a medic as you could have a build up of hard wax in your ears.
