Making an appointment to see a psychiatrist?

How can I get a psychiatrist appointment quickly?

• I really need to see a psychiatrist like ASAP. I have major anxiety issues, my GP has prescribed meds which haven't worked out, I'm not sleeping, barely functioning, and having mood swings that even my friends are noticing, so obviously, I'm in need of help. I called my friend's psychiatrist who he recommended to me because he says that he's absolutely great, and I wasn't able to get an appointment until April 15th which is still a month away, and I'm not sure I can hold out that long. No, I am not suicidal, and no, I have no plans of harming anyone. However, I am a full time college student, and my grades in half my classes are seriously at risk right now because of my impaired function. Yes, I am seeing a counselor on a weekly basis, and yes, it is helpful, but I obviously have a chemical problem in my brain, so medication is necessary. How can I get a psychiatrist appointment quickly? Like, within 2 weeks would be ideal if at all possible..

  I dont know wich country you are in but in the u.k you could just see your GP who would be just as well informed and able to prescribe medication without the extended waiting list'
