How do I avoid a dry and sore throat every morning when I wake up?

  • I usually wake up with a dry and sore throat each morning and it takes about 20 minutes each morning to have my throat restore to normal. I usually go to sleep drinking water and it doesn't work, how do I avoid this each morning? Thanks and good nite, Angel

    Definately invest in a humidifier. I had the same problem awhile ago and I went to the doctor to seek advice. She told me that the dry heat produced in your home in the winter months is most likely the cause of the problem. Also a good idea is to get a humidifier that you can place Vicks VapoRub or any other medicated ointment in to soothe that dry throat. It has made my nights and especially my mornings enjoyable again.

Ditto above. Avoid having a fan on in your room, if applicable. Try using a decongestant before bed, as you may have a post nasal drip problem. And keep your room clean and free of dust which may aggravate the problem.

No doubt from the furnace. I usually put a bowl of water in front of the heat vents in the winter cause I get the same thing. Or try a humidifier next to your bed.
